Course Information

Course Description

This course offers an introductory exploration of JuzʾʿAmma, guiding students through its short yet profound suras that illuminate the themes of faith, morality, and the afterlife. Students study selected verses with attention to language, context, and spiritual insight, developing a foundational understanding of Quranic meaning and method. Alongside textual study, the course introduces practical training for those who teach or share Quranic knowledge– emphasizing audience awareness, developmental appropriateness, and compassionate pedagogy. 

Students learn how to convey the Quran’s messages of mercy, justice, and accountability with wisdom and sensitivity, ensuring that lessons uplift and nurture rather than overwhelm. By the end of the course, students will be able to explain key themes of Juzʾ ʿAmma, connect them to daily life, and model a Prophetic approach to teaching that balances truth with gentleness.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Analyze unique words in selected Surahs of Juz’ ‘Amma, by exploring their linguistic meanings and root verbs.
• Differentiate between Makki and Madani Surahs and their characteristics.
• Connect narrations from the Seerah to the historical context of specific Surahs and their impact on the early Muslim community.
• Relate the lessons and themes of these Surahs to modern ethical challenges and personal growth.
• Analyze hadith that explain specific ayahs or surahs, emphasizing their relevance to understanding the Quran holistically.
• Make connections within and between Surahs, focusing on their role in shaping early Islamic thought and applying these insights to contemporary challenges.

Students are expected to attend all scheduled class sessions and participate actively in their learning. If an absence is unavoidable, students are responsible for communicating with their instructor, reviewing missed material, and completing any assigned work.

Technology Requirements

To ensure a successful online learning experience, all students must have regular access to a personal computer and reliable high-speed internet. Courses at Ribāṭ University are delivered through Canvas and may include video lectures, interactive discussions, digital readings, and multimedia assignments.
Students are responsible for maintaining the technology needed to participate fully.
