The Bachelor of Arts in Business, Organizational Leadership and Development is an interdisciplinary program designed to cultivate visionary, ethical, and spiritually grounded leaders for today’s dynamic world. Created for Muslim women who aspire to lead, build, and transform businesses and institutions, this program offers a rigorous and practical foundation in leadership, management, and organizational development—rooted in Islamic epistemology and guided by a deep sense of purpose and service.
Students will study leadership and management, organizational theory, human resources, strategic planning, communication, cost-management, and finance, including fundraising, while also exploring the principles of entrepreneurship– learning how to design, launch, and grow sustainable organizations that respond to community needs and global challenges. With an emphasis on both theory and applied learning, the program prepares students to strengthen existing organizations, launch new initiatives, and navigate complex environments with wisdom, resilience, and clarity.
Students will develop the capacity to lead with integrity, inspire collective vision, and foster sustainable, impactful growth.

Program Objectives
By the end of this program, students will be able to:
Business Stewardship
Analyze and apply knowledge of key business disciplines, such as management, operations, and marketing and communications to run ethical, sustainable, and socially impactful ventures aligned with Islamic values.
Organizational Leadership
Design and manage projects, systems, and financial models that flourish. Graduates learn to diagnose what is broken, rebuild with creativity and fiscal discipline, create talent development pathways, and establish sustainable, values-driven structures that serve both people and purpose.
Development and Social Impact
Design and implement fundraising, sustainability, and community-development initiatives that advance organizational growth and contribute to social good.
Applied Cost Management
Read and analyze financial statements, budgets and forecasts to make informed business decisions; demonstrate responsible financial stewardship aligned with Islamic principles and ethics.
Admissions Requirements
We review your admission holistically, to understand your academic readiness, character, and commitment to learning. A holistic review refers to an applicant’s academic record, volunteer/ community service, optional exams submitted, awards and recognition, and perspectives that can contribute to the academic and spiritual goals of being a student at Ribāṭ University.

Course Outline
This course provides students with an overview of theories of leadership and followership, transformational leadership, and servant leadership. Exploring in detail followership as a vital, active dimension of leadership rooted in humility, integrity, and spiritual purpose. Students will examine Islamic as well as other models of consultation and mentorship alongside followership theory, developing the insight to support, challenge, and lead with intention. Emphasis is placed on ethical relationships, self-awareness, and the courage to lead from any position.
This course provides students with a foundation in business ethics, planning, marketing, operations, and impact measurement. It introduces students to entrepreneurship as a vehicle for social impact, emphasizing business practices rooted in justice, sustainability, and Islamic values, with a focus on women-led and mission-driven ventures. Emphasis is placed on ethical leadership, community-centered enterprise, and data-driven decision making.
This course offers introduction to business finance with targeted focus on the not-for-profit organization (NPO) sector. The course covers business finance and provides a comprehensive overview of fundraising and financial sustainability in the NPO sector. Students will explore donor cultivation, grant writing, campaign planning, and ethical fundraising strategies, with an emphasis on aligning development work with mission and impact. Practical tools, finance and fundraising platforms, and case studies prepare students to build resilient, trust-based funding models for long-term growth.
This course introduces students to the principles of effective human resource management with a focus on both professional standards and Islamic ethics. Topics include hiring, training, performance evaluation, team dynamics, and volunteer engagement. Emphasis is placed on cultivating positive, mission-driven workplaces through practical tools, case studies, and spiritually grounded leadership.
This course equips aspiring school leaders with the tools to build and sustain educational institutions that are innovative, effective, and grounded in Islamic values. Students explore leadership theory, governance, strategic planning, and policy development alongside spiritual and ethical frameworks. Emphasis is placed on leading with vision, integrity, and a commitment to meaningful, lasting change.
Note: This course, offered in the education curriculum, uses educational institutions as the exemplar. The knowledge is transferable across business sectors and domains.
This course equips students with practical cost management skills including accounting and bookkeeping, emphasizing financial stewardship for both for-profit and NPO settings. Topics include financial statements, budgeting, audits, and ethical practices, with integration of Islamic finance principles such as zakat, amāna, and ribā-free management. Students gain hands-on experience in maintaining accurate, mission-aligned cost management reporting and systems.
This course equips students to design, implement, and evaluate mission-driven entities and programs using strategic frameworks and tools. Students will learn to align vision with action through logic models, strategic planning, risk management, and outcome-based evaluation. Emphasis is placed on stakeholder engagement, adaptive management, and data-informed decision-making to drive meaningful, measurable impact.
This course redefines hospitality as both a strategic enterprise and a human practice of welcome, care, and connection. Students explore how customer experience (CX), emotional intelligence, and service culture design intersect to create meaningful, memorable interactions. Through theory, case studies, and applied projects, students learn to design open-door experiences that unite operational excellence with empathy, ethics, and innovation.
This course examines the essential contributions of women to the development of civilizations across time, cultures, and systems. Through historical case studies and futures thinking, students explore women’s roles in scholarship, activism, art, governance, and cultural preservation. Emphasis is placed on intersectionality, resilience, and visionary leadership, inviting students to reimagine history and the future through a gender-conscious, justice-centered lens.
This advanced seminar explores specialized topics in business and organizational leadership. Each iteration of the course examines emerging theories and applied practices in areas such as strategic management, ethical leadership, social entrepreneurship, innovation, or organizational culture. Students engage in critical analysis, case study evaluation, and applied projects that connect leadership theory to real-world challenges. Emphasis is placed on reflective decision-making, ethical reasoning, and the integration of Islamic values within contemporary organizational contexts.
This course examines branding as both a strategic discipline and a soulful practice, exploring how visual identity, narrative, and purpose intersect to build lasting brand impact. Students study brand equity, positioning, and design while crafting their own brand strategies grounded in ethics, emotional resonance, and organizational mission. Recognizing the role of the artist and the creative process, the course invites students to respect what they do not yet know about design as much as to expand what they do know. Drawing on frameworks that emphasize intention, craftsmanship, and meaning-driven creativity, students engage with brand design not simply as communication but as expression of purpose, value, and identity.
This course prepares students to produce clear writing for technical and digital platforms that is tailored for diverse audiences. Students will create professional documents—reports, manuals, proposals, guides, blogs, and websites—while developing skills in visual communication, SEO, and digital content strategy. Emphasis is placed on usability, formatting, precision, accessibility, and real-world application preparing students for impactful communication across fields.
This course examines how organizations function and adapt, exploring theories of structure, culture, and change. Students will analyze systems, power dynamics, and models of transformation within diverse institutions, including faith-based contexts. Emphasis is placed on diagnosing challenges, preserving mission, and aligning organizational design with strategic and ethical goals.
This course is a practical application of the skills and knowledge learned and serves as the culminating experience of the Bachelor of Arts in Business, Organizational Leadership, and Development. The course invites students to synthesize their interdisciplinary learning to combine theoretical foundations in leadership, management, and organizational development with Islamic values and lived experience.
