This is a two-part course:<br \/>\n1. Students will attend a weekly online session with the instructor to follow up on their progress, work together to achieve consistent Quran reading habits, and receive inspiration about the Holy Quran.<br \/>\n2. Each student will be paired with a certified tajw\u012bd teacher, either online or locally, with whom she will work one-on-one. This part of the course will be complete when the student has read through the Holy Quran from start to finish with her assigned tajw\u012bd teacher, having demonstrated the ability to apply the rules of tajw\u012bd to the standardized and acceptable level.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Course Prerequisites:<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Students should be women above the age of 17.<\/li>\n<li>TAJ 201: \u201cTajw\u012bd Part 1: Letters &amp; Phonetics\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>TAJ 202: \u201cTajw\u012bd Part 2: Rules &amp; the Rhythm of Recitation\u201d or TAJ 203:\u00a0 &#8220;Accelerated Tajwid Rules&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>ARL 131: Arabic Novice High or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*Starred items may be waived through tajwid assessment.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Tajwid Placement:\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>New students in the Riverstead Tajw\u012bd Program are required to complete an assessment.\u00a0Based on that, they will receive a recommendation on the best course to start with. In addition to the weekly course, each student will meet with their tajw\u012bd teacher with whom she will work one-on-one.<\/p>\n<p>To be successful in this course, students need to attend the live class or watch the recordings, attend practice sessions live, and complete the coursework as defined in the course syllabus. This may include: a weekly reading log, a midterm, and\/or a final exam.<\/p>\n<p>This is an online course so students will need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance.<\/li>\n<li>Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation.<\/li>\n<li>To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet\/iPad with the Zoom app.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Text:<\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Medium to large sized Holy Quran in Arabic script.<\/li>\n<li>The Clear Quran by Dr. Mustafa Khattab.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Students are responsible for ordering their textbooks before the start of class. Riverstead textbooks are available to enrolled students at a discounted rate through\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #c3976a;\"><a style=\"color: #c3976a;\" href=\"https:\/\/bookshop.rabata.org\/collections\/ribaat-texbooks-1\" target=\"_parent\" rel=\"noopener\">Rabata Bookshop<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.
